Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast is one of the most anticipated movies of 2017, the film is a live-action re-telling of the 1991 animated musical romantic fantasy.

The movie refashions the classic characters from the original tale for both all generations to enjoy. Songs such as; Belle, Be our Guest, and Beauty and the Beast were part of the original movie and will be part of the new one as well.

The original film by Disney was based on the French fairytale with the same name. The drama is based on the relationship between Belle and the Beast. Belle is a beautiful young woman who is imprisoned by the Beast. Beast is a prince who was transformed into a monster. The prince needs to win the love of Belle so he can become human again. The original movie (1991) was described as «Enchanting, sweepingly romantic, and featuring plenty of wonderful musical numbers. Beauty and the Beast is one of Disney’s most elegant animated offerings,» according to Rotten Tomatoes (2014).

Emma Watson interprets Belle as an independent young woman who loves books and has dreams of a bright future. In a twist of fate, she meets the Beast, interpreted by Dan Stevens, who takes her prisoner into his castle. Even though Belle is afraid, she befriends the magical inhabitants of the castle. Then she  realizes that the Beast has a kind heart. At the same time, she discovers that a spell has changed the appearance of all the people in the castle.

The film is directed by the Oscar® winner Bill Condon. Beauty and the Beast was produced by Mandeville Films producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Alan Menken two-time Academy Award winner is the composer for the film, and based the music of the 1991 animated film. Beauty and the Beast will include new recordings of the original songs written by three-time Oscar winner Time Rice. Menken and Time Tice, the three-time Oscar winner.

Part of the cast will also include Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but selfish villager who tries to win over Belle. Kevin Kline, an Oscar® winner, plays Maurice, Belle’s father; Josh Gad plays Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan plays Lumiere.

Beauty and the Beast by Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures will be released in U.S. theaters on March 17, 2017.
